This is an "American" car that cannot be seen in America at all. The original Ford Focus was a global car, identical across the world and built at many different locations worldwide. While building a global car was routinely done by Japanese companies, the Focus, back in 1999, was the first successful American global car. Previous attempts, such as the Chevrolet Cavalier/Vauxhall Cavalier/Opel Ascona and the Ford Escort, ended up creating two completely different designs for different markets, and a more recent effort, the Ford Mondeo, was only a half-success, with the North American variant, the Contour, being cheapened to outright junk. But Ford, too obsessed with its light trucks and facing low profit margins in the car market, chose to not market this redesigned Focus in the US and Canada, instead offering a revised original Focus. This Focus, which was offered in the rest of the world, shares a platform with the Mazda 3 and Volvo
