German Tiger I Ver.Early - Academy 13422 Production on the Tiger I began in 1941, appearing for the first time in battle at the North African front at the end of 1942. Henschel and Porsche worked together to develop a prototype that underwent evaluations in April of 1942. This prototype was heavily fortified with 100mm thick front armor and 80mm side armor. It was powered by a Maybach HL210P45 engine and boasted upwards of 650 horsepower. In August of 1942, production was well on its way.
